As a former barista at Java Cats Cafe, and Cat mom of two, I was no stranger to the mission and design goals that Java Cats Cafe desired in a website. After Working with Java Cats Cafe owner, Hadyn, for about 6 months we decided that the online site needed a modern revitalization that fit the aesthetic of the shop.
Prior to redesign, reservations for the cat lounge were found on a separate website that left most visitors confused. There was no online store. While the main focus was the cats, it was unclear to anyone that hadn’t visited previously as to what we actually were.
Things I knew that immediately needed to change were:
- Embedding the reservation site into the main website, making the booking experience more streamlined for the user.
- Making the site information more accessible and having the homepage list all necessary information with multiple links to make a reservation.
- Adding an events page. With more recurring events popping up in the shop, this is crucial for their audience to know what is happening and when.
- Creating an online store. Merchandise sales are a huge business driver. By creating an online store, they are better able to capitalize on that market and have the brand reach expand outward from the Metro Atlanta area.
